Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has
taken a swipe at CORD’s principal Raila Odinga over his push for referendum
saying he has no moral authority to call for a referendum when his ODM party
suffers from ‘democratic mistrust’.
Speaking during a fundraiser in
aid of Mushiliro Anglican Church in Navakholo Kakamega County on Sunday, Ababu
said Kenyans were tired of politicking saying it’s time for development and
cohesion.
“If you cannot trust Ababu Namwamba with the
secretary general of a party because he doesn’t look trustworthy, because he
comes from a different community, then how will you work with his community
when you become president?” posed Ababu.
Ababu pointed out that Kenyans
should shape up to a new dispensation of leaders because the current leaders
were either too tribal or stuck in old habits that can’t work with the current
generation,
“Our country is crying out
for leadership, we have resources, good weather and hardworking citizens. Kenya
is a blessed land but lacks leaders. Kenya needs leaders that don’t trade in
politics throughout the week,” observed Ababu.
On the pending replacement of NIS
boss, Ababu urged president Uhuru to appoint a qualified Kenyan with the
required expertise saying tribal appointments have proved futile in tackling
insecurity in the country.
“Look here is Rotich, my security
aide from Rift Valley, he has been with me since I entered parliament in 2007
and it’s my second term with him, how many leaders can trust another tribesman
with their security?” posed Ababu.
This comes after former NIS boss Michael
Gichangi is said to have resigned from the post over a personal matter.
